The Matrix: Resurrections website came out yesterday and it’s much more than your typical movie promo website. First of all, you can see it here.
The page offers a image sequence that change depending on the time of day you visit. And the voiceover also depending on the pill you choose, red or blue.
“You have lost your ability to discern fact from fiction,” says a voice that may belong to the Mindhunter actor. Jonathan Groff if you take the blue pill. “You have lost your ability to discern between fact and fiction.” The trailer will tell you what time you are watching the teaser and will show you a series of images from the trailer that will arrive on Thursday.
If you choose the red pill, you will get something similar but with a different voiceover, which may be the actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. “This could be the first day of the rest of your life,” he says. “But if you want it, you have to fight for it.”
The sequence of images is constantly changing, but you will see that most of the main themes appear over and over again.
There is a plane Neo (Keanu Reeves) on a street in front of a cafe called Simulatte (Could it be a training program?). We also see how Groff’s character’s mouth closes, just like Neo did at the beginning of the original.
There is a blue haired character played by Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist) in a shootout. It is clear that he is a member of the resistance against the Matrix. We also see Neo – maybe – taking blue pills.
Some shots are reminiscent of moments from the first movie. Neo walking from the roof of a building. A fight in a dojo. A still shot of a woman in front of a computer reminiscent of the first scene from Trinity. According to Warner Bros, in total there are 180,000 image combinations,
There are some “real world” shots, with a flying ship and the Tentacled robots from the original trilogy.
Matrix Resurrections trailer to premiere tomorrow at 6 in the morning west coast time. Here are three more images that we have taken from the different videos:
Analysis: are we ready for the Matrix again?
We’ve known for a long time that the Matrix 4 is on its way. The cast was unveiled a long time ago and we saw Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss together on a motorcycle. In February 2021 we also saw stuntmen jumping off a skyscraper in San Francisco on the set of the movie.
But his argument is still a complete mystery. The title was not officially revealed until last month.
Matrix 4 will have to overcome a great obstacle: the two sequels were horrible and unnecessarily convoluted.
This fourth movie has things going for it. To start with Keanu Reeves as Neo, who is now a celebrated Hollywood figure and action star.
Another is that they have passed almost two decades since the Matrix Revolutions, long enough for people to be nostalgic or curious about the show (if they’ve never seen it). Ten or fifteen years ago it would seem like an impossible mission.
The other big factor is the cast: the original stars are joined by Abdul-Mateen II, Groff, Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris and Christina Ricci, among others.
You will see Matrix: Resurrections in cinemas around the world the December 22th. And HBO Max subscribers will be able to watch it at home the same day in the United States.
