Lancia Delta Integrale Evo-e electric: debut in the 2022 Rallycross World Championship

The French team Gck formalizes its participation in the 2022 FIA Rallycross World Championship, which will only see electric cars entered, with a special version of the Lancia Delta Integrale, the Evo-e retrofit which is fitted with two electric motors for a power of 680 Hp and 880 Nm of torque.

Few cars like the Lancia Delta Integrale are capable of unleashing pure emotions among rally enthusiasts, not just Italians, considering the five manufacturers’ championship titles and the three driver laurels won between 1988 and 1992 with Juha Kankkunen and Miki Biasion. This is why the return of a “Deltona” to competitions, in an unprecedented form, will probably not go unnoticed. The theater will be the 2022 World Rallycross World Championship, a competition that will turn towards electric motors, when an unprecedented zero-emission Lancia Delta Evo-e will make its appearance with the colors of the French team Gck Motorsport.

After showing a retrofit of the electric Lancia Delta Integrale in May 2021, the team founded by Guerlain Chicherit – winner of a rally raid World Cup in 2009 and rallycross driver – takes the next step, confirming the use of the car for the competitions of the Fia RX World Championship. From the 2022 season, the one that will see the transition to electric cars, the Gck team will bring the Lancia Delta Evo-e to the stage, developed starting from the retrofit of the Delta Integrale “queen” of rallies in a golden age like that of the hinge between years Eighties and nineties.

Like the other cars that will participate in the Rallycross for electric cars, the Lancia Delta Evo-e will also be equipped with the RX1e kit developed by the Austrian Kreisel Electric. The powertrain made up of two zero-emission engines is capable of delivering a power of 500 kW (680 Hp) with a “monstre” torque, equal to 800 Nm. The cars of the new RX1e class, thanks to the maximum torque immediately available, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 1.8 seconds. “I am excited for Gck’s return to the Fia World Rallycross Championship – explains Guerlain Chicherit, who with his team returns to the circus after a year of absence -. The format of the race will allow us to stage one of the most exciting sporting events. I chose the Lancia Delta Integrale because it is a car that made us all dream “.

No less than 14 electric cars will participate in the Fia World Rallycross Championship season 2022, all sharing the same powertrain; as established by the technical regulations, the cars will have a minimum weight of 1,430 kg, and two electric motors (one on the front axle and one on the rear axle). The championship that awards the World title includes short races with “head to head” challenges, on surfaces that mix asphalt and dirt. The series was inaugurated in 2014 with a calendar consisting of 12 races. The 2021 season, with seven events, will conclude on the weekend of November 28 in Germany.
