A new trailer has been realeased for the movie Mothering Sunday, which features The Crown’s Olivia Colman and Josh O’Connor reuniting, alongside a number of other excellent actors for a beautiful love story.
The story sees Jane Fairchild, played by Odessa Young, opposite O’Connor as a pair of tortured lovers. Young plays a house maid employed by Mr and Mrs Niven (Colin Firth and Olivia Colman) who is secretly in love with Paul (O’Connor) even though he is engaged to another woman. Neither will be able to foresee what happens next but it will change the course of Jane’s life forever.
The film received a positive reaction at the Cannes Film Festival, and will soon premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and the BFI London Film Festival.

Directed by Eve Husson, the film will also star BAFTA winner and former Labour MP Glenda Jackson (A Touch of Class) and Gangs of London actor Thank you Darius.
The movie will be based on the novel by Graham Swift, and produced by BAFTA winners Elizabeth Karlsen and Stephen Wooley.
In Netflix’s The Crown, Colman played Queen Elizabeth II from 2019 to 2020 after taking over from Claire Foy and O’Connor played her son Prince Charles during the same time. The Crown famously changes its actors every two seasons to allow for continuity due to the time jumps in the storyline.

Colman has had an extensive career, having appeared in Hot Fuzz, Murder On The Orient Express, Doctor Who, Fleabag, The Favourite and Broadchurch, amongst many others.
O’Connor, meanwhile, has appeared in 2015’s remake of Cinderella, Emma, Doctor Who and The Durrells, while hison-screen lover Odessa Young has starred in Assasination Nation, The Professor and Shirley.
Mothering Sunday will premiere in cinemas in the UK on November 19.
The Crown seasons 1-4 are now streaming on Netflix, while seasons 1-3 are also available on DVD and Blu-ray.
